Round 2 Program Notes

8 Apr 2017 by James King

Last Saturday’s win over the 2016 Premiers was a great start to the year and left the whole of the football club with a good feeling about the year to come. There is no doubt tonight’s game will again be a serious test for our boys as we know the Cats have regained some of their champion players from recent years to bolster their team.

Last weeks win did see a fantasic team effort, but some of our new players including Assistant Coaches Andy Lee and Rohan Baldock made it obvious their presence up forward will certainly be something to look forward to seeing each week! Recruit David Scarffe showed off his talent and added two goals also, Dylan Bramich proved that his hard pre season has payed off with an absolute brilliant Senior debut game and Will Huxtable proved that he has talent to burn with an outstanding performance down back complemented by the Hardy boys and Finbar! Toby Skene didn’t stop giving 100% all day keeping one of the best players in the league in Josh Holland on a short leash.

The Under 18’s also got their season off to a flyer with a superb 19 point win to give the young men a truck load of confidence. They look to have a successful season as in recent years they haven’t managed to get many wins.

The Reserves will be looking to bounce back today following their loss to Latrobe, they gave it everything they had in the last quarter but couldn’t quite get the job done. Nathan Russell showed off his flashy talent with Nick Rolls showing off to the crowd how good he can kick a torpedo and goal!

Don’t forget 2017 memberships are available. This year we have a serious aim to have a record number of people signed up as members, so if you haven’t signed up make sure you see Andrew Cure or give him a call on 0418 140 380 and be part of something special for only $30. Sponsorship packages are available also, contact Paul ‘Muzza’ Murray for more information at murraydes32@gmail.com.

Thursday night teas are back for the season from 7:30pm. All members, supporters and sponsors are more than welcome to head down to the clubrooms on Thursday’s, watch the boys train and have a great meal cooked by our lovely ladies for $10 with the bar open also!

Bianca’s first function for the year was a great evening last Saturday night with Matt and CJ playing many great tunes into the evening! Bianca’s next function is May 6 in the clubrooms themed ‘Vinnies Kits’! So get your best worst kit organised for that one, as there will be prizes for best dressed. Entry is $5! More details to follow!

Next weekend we are away again as we take on Devonport, we would love to see plenty of support from all of our members, supporters and sponsors to cheer the boys on! Also don’t forget our next home game is on ANZAC day as we battle with Ulverstone in our traditional ANZAC day clash, that is one not to miss! Casserole teas will be available post match for $5.
