Round 4 ANZAC DAY Program Notes

25 Apr 2017 by James King

Welcome along to our annual Anzac Day clash against Central Coast rivals Ulverstone. It is an honour to host an occasion such as this as we remember all those that have fought and died so that we can live freely in the most beautiful part of the world.

Last weekend was a great one for the Two Blues with three strong wins against Devonport. The Seniors bounced back after their loss against Wynyard with a convincing 54-point win over the Magpies. Andrew Lee dominated in the air and Jacob Brown dominated on the ground, both kicking three goals. It was very exciting to see our four debutants, Fletcher Looney, Dylan Chell, Fraser Eaton and Jay Van Essen, have an impact on the game, with Fraser and Jay even managing to snag a goal each. Young gun David Scarffe was also very impressive in his 3rd game, kicking a goal as well.

The Reserves dominated all day to win by 179-points. Curtis Williams played well on his return, but not quite as good as the results suggested. He was marked down for a 6-goal haul when in fact it was Cameron “Dogsy” Windram who kicked 6. Reports are Cameron is furious after he wasn’t contacted by the Advocate for a correction article and he has claimed he will kick another bag today to prove it was in fact him.

The Under 18’s bounced back strongly with a 52-point win last week. Jesse French played well and kicked four goals with Kallum Paul again dominating around the ground, he kicked two goals. Ben Callaghan, and several other players, again made the jump up to Under 18’s from the Under 16’s and seemed to fit right in as he was named among the best.

Ulverstone are always a tough team to come up against and coming off a win against Wynyard we will need to be at our best to beat them. With the bye next weekend it will be good to head into the week off on a winning note. Good luck to all three teams.

Today’s home game sponsor is Carpets Central, located in Export Drive in Ulverstone. Peter and Dianne have been very loyal sponsors of the Two Blues over many years. We hope that Peter, Dianne and their mates enjoy what should be a great game of footy.

Go Two Blues!
