Round 8 Program Notes

27 May 2017 by James King

Today sees us travel over to Latrobe to take on the Demons, which is always a hot game. Almost like the AFL no game is easy this year with an even spread of talent throughout all teams in the NWFL.
Today is the first time we return to Latrobe following last year’s Grand Final. The Seniors will be looking to bounce back from our loss to Wynyard at home where the Cats proved to be too good in the last term to grab victory. Following last week’s representative game, the boys have had a weekend off and should be full of energy and willing to prove that we are going to be competitive going into the second half of the season. The Reserves fought out a nice win against Wynyard with some class skills shown off by Nathan Russell, Damon Overton, Scotty Hennessey and Michael Edwards-Grey. Coach Nick Rolls will be looking for a repeat effort today to get another win on the board.

Bianca held her function ‘Minute to Win It’ in the clubrooms following the Wynyard game. It was certainly a great night full of laughs and good times with all that attended, including the host Cameron Windram, having a great evening! Thanks to those that showed up to make it what it was.

We have plenty of upcoming events at the Penguin Football Club – be sure to save the dates! They include; next week at Pirtek Park is our annual Pink Day match as we take on the Circular Head Giants. We will be having a Ladies Luncheon also in the clubrooms, for more details see Bianca. Our Sponsors Luncheon will be held on June 17 in the clubrooms, the Penguin Football Club Ball will be held on June 24, Trivia Night July 8, the 1977 Premiership Reunion July 29 and Penguin’s Got Talent on August 12. This will also be our last ever home game at Pirtek Park when we take on cross town traditional rival the Ulverstone Football Club as we will be relocating to the Dial Regional Sports Complex Twin Ovals next season. More details to come for all events.

Don’t forget club memberships are available from as little as $30 and it’s never too late to join up and become a proud financial member of the Penguin Football Club.

All the best to our teams today,
GO TWO BLUES!
