Footy is back!

We send out a warm welcome to our supporters and members today for our first games here at Pirtek Oval A at Dial Park as well as today’s game day sponsors Incitec Pivot and Pirtek North West.

It’s been a very busy off season for the AJ & M Construction Penguin Football Club on and off the field as we transform from our old and rather run down facilities in town to our absolutely fantastic state of the art facilities here at Dial Park. The Central Coast Council have been great during the process and we thank them and project manager Greg Osborne for a smooth transition as a 40 year dream has become reality! We would like to welcome all guests here today for the official opening of the complex – politicians, councilors and guests.

We would also like to welcome to the Burnie Dockers as we have three games all set to be crackers. Our playing group has had a big pre season with some fantastic numbers on the track over the summer and today all that hard work will be on show. We have some new faces around the club this year, some include – Sam Mawer from Rosebery, Jared Macdonald from WA, Beau Grundy and Matt Chamberlain from Somerset and Penguin’s favourite son Rodney King returning after almost two years on the sidelines with a knee injury as well as Matthew Kinch and Jack Thomas returning to the club from Hobart. Also we have a large number of last year’s Under 18 premiership side now playing Senior football, these boys have some exceptional talent and we are excited to see what these young men have to offer as they develop. We look forward to seeing them in the Two Blues colours playing their role! Senior coach Peter Templeton has some new assistants this year, Raymond Huxtable, Matt Carrolan and Edward Wedd. Nick Rolls is again Reserves coach and Daniel Baldock has taken over the head job of the Under 18’s from Tim King!

We would like to thank ongoing major sponsors for their continued support in 2018, Pirtek North West for ground naming rights, guernsey sponsor AJ & M Construction, shorts sponsor Ironcliffe Road Store, as well as Coastal Engineering & Belting for their support. Please support the people that support us!

Memberships can be purchased today from the bar or simply see Scott De Groot or Brian Lane.

We still have some players after someone to sponsor them. If you might be interested please see Paul Murray or Brian Lane for more details!

After today’s games here in the clubrooms we will have various casseroles available for purchase for only $5, the bar will be open and we have the fantastic cover band The Red Kelly’s playing from 8 ‘til late with a $5 admission fee. This is set to be a great night!

We have next weekend off then we return to Pirtek Oval A on April 14 as we take on the East Devonport Swans!

GO TWO BLUES!
