Round 3 & 4 Program Notes

21 Apr 2018 by James King

Today we have our Round 3 encounter with the Devonport Football Club as we return to Pirtek Park. We are looking forward to seeing some cracking games of local footy at the best ground on the coast! Today will also see the return of our Lady Blues as they run out for the first time for season 2018 following the Senior men’s game. It’s been a long summer for the girls who have played many practice matches also and are busting to get back out there and look to continue their winning ways following a great debut season last year by making the Grand Final only to be defeated by a strong outfit of the Latrobe ladies. Last week saw our Senior men get their season back on track with a fantasic come from behind win over the Swans in some shocking weather. We held the lead for the first half with the Swannies having a magnificent third quarter, grabbing the lead with some exceptional football. It took until the last minute of the game for Beau Grundy to kick the winning goal to get us across the line! The Under 18’s also chalked up their first win for the season with a comfortable win as well as the Reserves grabbing another win.

Memberships are available for purchase, we strongly encourage you to join the Two Blues family by purchasing yours today from as little as $30. We also have plenty of merchandise available too. Our new website penguinfc.com.au now has an online store with all merchandise on display to purchase also!

Tonight from 8PM it’s gunna get hot and sweaty as we host a double bill consisting of Roger! and Lucky7 playing live in the clubrooms. These boys know how to rock, so this is going to be a great night with some exceptional music to get down to! Roger! will kick off proceedings with each band playing two sets, entry is only $10. This is something you don’t want to miss!

After today’s games the boys have 3 days to recover as Wednesday we travel next door to take on our Central Coast neighbours Ulverstone in our traditional ANZAC day clash. These annual blockbuster games are just fantastic for the community with large crowds expected as like always. The Robins are looking strong again this year and our young team will be looking forward to the privilege and challenge of this big event.

After ANZAC day we have the weekend off, then travel to Smithton to take on the Giants and then return home on May 12 against Latrobe. We will have smoked pork cooking during the course of the day for teas and then followed by The Luke Waylon Band from Beaumorris on the sunny East Coast consisting of Luke Parry, Andrew Darvis and Justin Emmerton, brother of Vice President Darren! These guys are sensational, you don’t want to miss this, entry cost is only $10.

GO TWO BLUES!
