Round 5 Program Notes

5 May 2018 by James King

Our first trip to sunny Smithton for the year is without doubt the biggest game we have played here for a very long time as Collingwood premiership player and former Doggie Travis Cloak pulls on the Giants guernsey! This is just fantastic for the NWFL and of course the Smithton community and surrounds and we sure hope the people of the area support the day and hopefully even some people from the coast wander down! We won’t know who gets the job on big Travis until the opening siren – will it be Finbar, Greeny, Jack East, Jack Temp or even big Dylan Bramich? Post game from 7PM the Giants will be holding a sportsmans night featuring Travis, entry is $30 and it will feature supper, a raffle and an auction! It’s set to be a great evening!

Our girls will kick off proceedings today and will be looking to continue their winning form with a win over the Giants girls. Our girls played a superb second half against the Robins to win comfortably and give the girls some confidence as they launch into the season! The Under 18 boys along with the Reserves and Seniors will be eager to get their season back on track following disappointing losses last friday night and ANZAC Day as the Robins proved they are certainly a top two finishing team with dominant performances over each grade.

Penguinfc.com.au has had a makeover, if you didn’t already know, and it’s now full of fantastic information and news along with an online store with plenty of goodies and membership packages! Visit the site today!

We still have some players without sponsors, if you might be interested in becoming a sponsor please see either Brain Lane, Paul Murray or Toby Ray today!

Next week we return home to Pirtek Park for our encounter with the Latrobe Demons. A Grand Final replay for the Reserves and Women as well as a great battle predicted for the Senior men! Justin Emmerton will be cooking smoked pork during the day that will be available for teas and then followed by The Luke Waylon Band playing live. This is guaranteed to be a dead set great night!

Nicole has plenty of up coming events to mark in your diary: May 19 – Get Shirty, May 26 – Two Blues Enchanted Ball, June 16 – Pink Day (including ladies high tea), July 14 – dress up night (Why the F Did I Wear that) and July 21 – 1968 Under 19 Premiership Reunion!

Tomorrow our Juniors host the Giants so pop into Dial park and catch a glimpse of our future Two Blue stars!

All the best to all sides today!

GO TWO BLUES!
