Round 14 Program Notes

21 Jul 2018 by James King

After a week off with the spilt round our men’s teams will be nice and refreshed and ready for today’s battle with Central Coast neighbour, the Ulverstone Robins. As the season rolls around so very quickly this is our second last home game and today will be our Lady Blues last home game for the year as they eye a finals berth over the coming weeks. Unfortunately last weekends scheduled game against the Giants resulted in a forfeit for the girls so they will be super pumped for today’s game. Stick around after the Senior men and support the girls! We can’t thank Women’s coach Bruce Howard enough for his efforts over the past couple of years, Bruce has recently stepped down. Michael Marshall will now be filling the position for the remainder of the season.

Congratulations to Under 16 Ben Callaghan who made his Senior debut against the Swans in our last game and celebrating a win to go with it! Ben, like all of our young brigade, is a super talent and we look forward to seeing more of him playing Senior football! The future is bright!

The Robins sit on top of the ladder for a reason, they are a superb team and would no doubt be favourites to go back to back this year so today is going to be a big challange for our young team. Our Reserves will be fresh also and coming off a nice win they have full confidence they can turn things around after a disappointing loss to the Robins in our last encounter on Anzac day.

Thanks to ‘Roger!’ for putting on a fantastic show as Nicole hosted ‘Why Did I Wear That!?’ at her function! It was a great night and as they do quite well James King and Nathan Russell tore the dance floor to pieces!

It is never too late to sign up and become a Penguin Football Club member. Please see the bar staff to join!

Stick around post game as we will have meals available for only $10 and $5 for the kids! Head trainers turned head chefs Norrie Hayes and Rodney Adams will keep your taste buds satisfied! The bar will be open for the evening too so stick around and have a beer and catch the footy on the big screen – ad free!

Don’t forget Friday nights the bar is open also and Thursday nights with teas we have our members jackpot draw, currently at $225!

The next couple of weeks we will be on the road to Burnie and to Smithton before returning home for our last home game for the year against the Demons as we will wear different guernseys as we raise funds and awareness for Huntington’s Disease Tasmania.
