Round 16 Program Notes

4 Aug 2018 by James King

Today we make to road trip west to Smithton as we do battle with the Giants in three games of footy. Our Lady Blues have now finished up for the year after going down to Wynyard last weekend in the 1st Semi Final. The girls again had another great year with a third place finish on the ladder and should be super proud of their efforts over a challenging season. Our boys early in the season left Smithton with 3 losses and will be looking for redemption over the three grades. Brad Green, Zach Targett, Jake Wray-McCann, Sam Mawer and Jack Templeton will be key players today as they look to continue their red hot form along with Toby Skene who missed last weekends game through injury and he will be hoping to be 100% fit for today’s encounter.

Each week we seem to be congratulating new players to the Senior team and this week we congratulate Luke Von Bibra as he was our latest player to pull the mighty Two Blues stripes for the 2PM time slot last week when we faced off with the Dockers! Well done Vonny! Also a big congratulations goes to long time can bar professional Brant Maloney as he debuted for the club in the Reserves last week. He has recently been compared to Charlie Curnow and mistaken for Brendan Fevola’s long lost son and we can only look forward to more appearances by the great man!

Next weekend we will return home to Pirtek Dial Park for our last home game for the year as we host the Latrobe Demons. We will be wearing an alternative guernsey for the occasion as we help raise funds and awareness for Huntington’s Disease Tasmania with $1 from every sale of hot sav’s being donated to the cause. Please be sure to support this worthy cause and catch us for the last time at home for season 2018.
