2019 Coaches Finalised

26 Oct 2018 by James King

Our coaches for all grades have been finalised for the 2019 season!

Senior Men’s – Chris McDonald
After a year off footy, former Two Blues skipper Chris McDonald has been named as our Senior coach for the next two seasons.
Chris will also pull the boots back on to coach in a playing role!
We look forward to the 2019 and 2020 seasons under Macca’s guidance!

Senior Women’s – Lila Wijesingha-Frohmader
It’s with great pleasure that the Penguin Football Club can announce that 2018 Captain and Best & Fairest winner, Lila Wijesingha-Frohmader has been appointed as the coach of the Senior Women for 2019.
The Penguin Football Club embrace Lila’s passion and drive to grow the club and the excitement she has for our club.
The Penguin Football Club alongside Lila will work to provide all women and girls every opportunity to succeed in their footballing endeavours and encourage female participation to increase in football at our club. Lila has highlighted her desire to strengthen the link between juniors and seniors and create a smoother transition for the younger members of our club. To do this, Lila’s senior group will commence pre-season training with the younger girls of our club (under 17 youth women) to encourage them to continue to play football and develop their skills, while making lifelong friendships.
Stay tuned for further details on when this will be occurring.
We would really like to thank and acknowledge outgoing coach Bruce Howard for his fantastic service over the past two seasons and Mick Marshall for filling in for the second half of this year.

Reserves – Nick Rolls & Brock Dicker
We are beyond excited to confirm the final piece of the 2019 coaching puzzle has been completed with our Reserves coaching role.
It’s with great pleasure we can announce that heading the 2019 Reserve team will be co-coaches, Nick Rolls & Brock Dicker!
Nick has had the wheel of the ship over the past three seasons with his team playing finals each year that included 2 grand final appearances (1 premiership, 1 runner up) along with a preliminary final.
Nick will now be joined in the top job with Penguins favourite son, 200 gamer & former Captain Brock Dicker returning home after a couple of years playing in the DFA with 50+ games with the Cuprona Bulldogs.
Nick and Brock will work closely with senior coach Chris McDonald & under 18 coach Raymond Huxtable along with senior women’s coach Lila Wijesingha-Frohmader to ensure an even consistency, expectations, work load, high morale and comradery throughout the clubs ranks.

Under 18’s – Raymond Huxtable
We are thrilled to announce that Ray Huxtable has been appointed coach of our Under 18 side for 2019!
Ray has a wealth of knowledge and experience of the game from his playing days at Roseberry, Latrobe and numerous other country clubs, to his coaching past at Devonport being head coach of the Under 14’s, 16’s, 18’s, Reserves and Seniors.
Ray was also assistant Senior coach to Temp this year.
Our young men will certainly benefit having Ray at the helm next year.
All the best Hux!
