Round 17 Program Notes

2 Aug 2016 by James King

Welcome all back to Pirtek Park for our last home game for the season against the Latrobe Demons. Latrobe always bring a hot contested game that we always look forward to challenging. Coming off their massive win last weekend this will be a very tough game for the boys in the Two Blues colours who will be looking to show their home crowd that they are ready for finals footy and wont be easy push overs. Last weekends win against the Cats has basically cemented us a third spot finish on the ladder for the season. That willl see us either play Latrobe or Ulverstone in the first week of finals which is certainly exciting and having Jack Templeton back in the team certainly bolsters the side. The Reserves are also ready for today’s big test as Latrobe have been the only side to get a win over us this season so far. Rollsy has plenty of talent to pick from that is a lovely problem to have, especially this time of the year. Hammer Barron has been in top form up forward for a number of weeks now and he will be looking to continue that today as well as solid performances from Ben Seymour, Toby Skene and Timmy Gee. The Under 18’s showed plenty of heart against Wynyard and today the boys will be keen to notch up a win and finish the season off in style.

Last weekend also saw the return of the Penguin Football Club Ball that was held on Saturday night at Bayviews Restaurant and Lounge Bar. It was a fantasic turn out by all that attended and everyone certainly enjoyed their evening. Mousse Munro pipped Scotty Hennessy for best dressed that left Josh Kaine and Kale Targett questioning their attire. Jan Miocheck hands down took out the best dressed female! Thanks to Kiannah for her hard work organising the event, Bayviews for their hospitallity and Kergs for the bus.

Today when you are heading to the bar to grab your favourite beverage of choice be sure to wish young Brian Targett a very Happy 50th Birthday! As well as Jack Eastley who celebrates his birthday tomorrow! Happy Birthday fellas!

As the season comes to a close we would again like to thank all of our fantastic sponsors and members for season 2016. Its been fantasic having you and we look forward to your kind support again next year.

Following today’s game head into the warmth of The VIE Financial Clubrooms, grab a refreshment and catch up with the players, coaches, sponsors and members. The bar will be open for the evening so feel more then welcome to kick back and watch the footy on the TV.

All the best to our teams today,

GO TWO BLUES!
