Grand Final Program Notes

10 Sep 2016 by James King

Wow! Today we find ourselves with two teams in this years NWFL Grand Final at Latrobe against both of their teams. What a massive, massive achievement for our small club! The buzz about the town this week has certainly been something else, with many shops and houses decorated in the Two Blues ribbons and balloons! Whether we win or lose today, the club and the community are super proud of the players efforts, not just on the field but the way they show professionalism off the field also.

We have certainly made it here today the tough way by not having a home final and our narrow losses to the classy Latrobe sides in the 2nd Semi Final’s, plus two hit outs with the dominant Robins which will give the side so much confidence today. Today’s big match promises to be a tight and tough encounter as our boys will be eager to bring home a flag to Pirtek Park for the first time in 31 years. Pete certainly will have full faith in the boys as they have showed over the past month that they can match it with any team. They’ve had sound defence from Issac Plant and Finbar Wray-McCann, outstanding efforts in the middle from players such as Todd Munro, Zach Mihocek, Toby Skene and Jacob Brown and great form from forwards Chris McDonald, Nathan Russell and Wuffy Smith.

Rollsy’s Reserves side have had some great close encounters with the Demons this season. Tyler Parker, Tim King, Timmy Gee and Ben Seymour have been constant performers each time with Jake Fielding also.

Congratulations also to Tyler Parker on taking out the Reserves League Best and Fairest award for the season at last weeks Darrell Baldock Medal. A magnificent job Tyler. Congratulations also to Kiannah Bourn and Zachary Mihocek. Kiannah has done a brilliant job this year as Ambassador for our club and did a fantasic effort at the Ambassador Quest by coming runner-up by one vote. Zach finished equal 5th in the Darrell Baldock Medal count, well done Zach. Our club Best and Fairest count will be held on Saturday the 17th of September.

The club would really like to thank everyone for their support this season, the absolute great support from our fans in the home and away season and great turn outs in the finals series so far, all of our fantastic sponsors, members and of course all of our fabulous volunteers who put in so many hours each week as well as all of the trainers and physios. Thank you so much for a great year.

The VIE Financial clubrooms will be open tonight and all are welcome to pop in and celebrate a successful 2016 season.

All the very best to our teams today, fight on!

GO TWO BLUES!
